February 15 4 Book Salon for Curious Readers

Critical Mass, How One Thing Leads to Another

by Philip Ball

Philip Ball has been the author of three previous salon books (The Self-Made Tapestry, Life’s Matrix, and Bright Earth). He has a Ph.D. in physics and is a freelance science writer and consultant editor for Nature. Critical Mass won the Aventis General Prize for science books in 2005.

Why bother to read it?

This is an investigation into explaining social behavior by applying the laws of physics. There is somewhat of a steep learning curve here if you are not familiar with the science. It is worth the effort to read because of the thought-provoking discussions that it can produce.

Doors open at 7 p.m.

Location:  The home of Chris Welsh
Creole on Yorktown Apartments
2400 Yorktown
Houston, TX 77056
