October 25 4 Book Salon for Curious Readers

Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way we Make Things

by William McDonough and Michael Braungart

The authors’ point of view is that waste equals nutrition, either biological or technological. William McDonough introduces a new paradigm of design where there is zero waste. How can we change from downcycling—we don’t really recycle—to something else?

Why bother to read it?

The authors propose how to eliminate the concept of waste and preserve commerce, while allowing for human nature. They show some good examples of corporations that are actually doing good for the environment and the neighborhoods around them and making money while they do it. It is an exciting new paradigm in design.
