Take Your Time and Practice
Most people, when they want to learn something new, want instant gratification, and instant gratification is not fast enough for them. That is an admirable goal for learning concepts. Profound knowledge or knowledge that you have integrated into your system takes longer.
Data becomes information when there is a structure to it. Information becomes knowledge when you put your structure to it. Knowledge becomes wisdom when you have experience over time plus time to reflect.
When you encounter a new experience, your brain forms new connections. If the experience is repeated, the new pathway is strengthened and made more efficient. If the experience isn’t repeated, the pathway weakens and eventually disappears. Taking the time to practice, experience, and reflect allows your brain to form new neural pathways and networks.
The April, May, and June Salon books look into the latest research in this area of neuroplasticity.
